Crochet – Irish Lotus Doily

IRISH LOTUS DOILY
Crochet - IrishDoily - FO2
History Started this one almost a year back and completed it quickly. Its one of those don’t know what to do projects. Since then it has been stashed into a bag along with some other stuff. Finally got it out, starched and blocked it. Actually after seeing the starch bottle in the laundry shelf, i thought of taking out this doily and starching it.
Crochet - IrishDoily - FO4

Yarn: Cotton thread (I got two partial balls at an op shop, used only one)
Hook: 2.25mm (I think.. as i started long time back and dont remember much)
Others: Liquid starch to block
Size: 9″ in Diameter (Post-blocking)
Pattern: Lotus Flower Bag I didnt dare to do the bag… left it as a doily

Notes:
The doily prior to blocking is not a very pretty sight (Wish i had taken a preblocking snap). But i was amazed at how much difference starching and blocking will make to it.
I am not sure if spray starch is available in India, but a more easy alternative i found is liquid instant starch (Stiff N Shine) by Ujala (may be there are other brands). A teaspoon in 1/2 cup of water turned my doily cardboard-stiff.

I am now hunting for a wooden embroidery hoop of correct size to turn it into a deco object.
