FO: Green Owls

FO - Green Owls Knitted Vest

History I had my eyes on this pattern for a long long time. As its been a long time since i completed a project 🙂 i was kind of determined to finish it. Also its a good project to try some cables. More to say… my hands were itching to cast on this vest since i saw it but i restrained myself for a long time to have one more WIP but at the end the vest won…on a positive side i completed it and its no longer a WIP.
Yarn: Shine Sport by Knit Picks in Silver Sage color (i didnt use even two complete balls).
Needles: 3.5mm Aero circular and 3.25 Pony circular.
Others: Stitch Holder and Tapestry needle (to weave in the ends)
Gauge: Its not as per the pattern but its 6sts/1 inch.
Size: Its only in one size
Pattern: Owl Baby Vest by Jodi Haraldson of Caffeinated Yarn .
I added a couple of more stitches as i was using a thinner yarn than the pattern specified and also for my needle length, i need couple of stitches to comfortably knit in circle. It went up quite quickly as the pattern goes in the round and i only have to knit all the time. It is also the project where i knitted completely in the Continental way (except for the owl cables).

I did messed up my owls as i did a row wrong which i didnt realise till the back and left front are completed and i didnt want to unravel it all. On row 14 of the owl pattern i should have repeated row 13 but i did a row 3. All i have to blame is my code language representation of the pattern. As i didnt have a printed copy of the pattern i copied it on to a paper from the computer and since i was too lazy… i wrote everything in some alien language and at the end even i couldnt understand it 🙂
But the vest looks so cute..all done and DH loved it to the bits. I wish i had a small cute hanger for the photo 🙂

If i make it again;
I will make the owls correctly 🙂 and add some embroidery like some knitters did.

Learned a lot of things
1. This is the first major project i completed by knitting the round
2. Cables
3. Attempted 2 types of 3-Needle Bind offs (May be i did in a different way first time).
4. Picking up stitches around a curve (I still need some practise near the V neck).
5. Used Magic Loop to do the ribbing around the arms.

A week… might have finished it more quickly but i had another cute project on hand 🙂
