Day 20 – Chatswood Salvation Army (OP Shop 1)

November 11, 2008

November 3, 2008 – Monday

I have been reading about Op Shops ( Opportunity Shops)/ Charity Shops / Thrift Stores in almost all Australian blogs. The stores normally get almost good and unused goods that are donated and they sell them back to the community. All the proceeds go to charity. Vinnies, Salvos are some names. I think the idea from the UK. I sometimes think why India didn’t aquire all the good stuff from the English instead.
After i googled and found that there are some nearby… i wanted to see what the fuss is all about.

Chatswood Salvos is my first op shop. Its a small but nice store which i think is airconditioned. The front hall has some clothes, shoes, bric-brac, a bit of jewellery, some craft items and trial rooms. The second room has lots of books neatly sorted out, Glass ware, some furniture along with some toys. I bought 2 knitting books for 8 dollars. There are lot of knitting patterns, sewing patterns, some sewing stuff, buttons, knitting needles but no yarn.
